”Let go and let God.” How many times have we heard that? It’s such a simple phrase and yet one of the hardest to live by!! And, why is that?? I think it’s because deep down we are ALL control freaks to a certain degree! Obviously letting “Jesus take the wheel”, so to speak, is a big part of us not trying to control everything, but that’s another post for another day. I’m talking about delegation today. What can you delegate to make life less hectic and more about quality of life.
I had a friend who once told me she hated how her husband folded the bath towels, but she finally just let it go because at least he was trying to help. That really stuck with me. How silly does it sound when you say you want the towels folded a certain way but I guarantee you’re thinking of at least one silly thing you like done a certain way. I may have 100! Lol!!
For a type A personality this has been one of the hardest things for me. “If you want something done right, do it yourself,” has always been my motto, but when you’re a busy mom you CAN’T do it ALL! Yes we can wear many hats and multi-task like a boss, but expecting ourselves to literally do everything is crazy! This is where I’ve had to learn when to delegate. I have to weigh my options... Is it worth the time I gain for someone else to do something for me? Is it something that REALLY matters? Will things fall apart if they’re not done exactly the right way? Most of the time I’m going to come to the conclusion that it is worth delegating even if it’s not done the way I do things. I’ve had to completely change my thinking on this one!!
Whether you realize you need to hire an assistant, get a house keeper, let your kids do some of the chores (there are age appropriate chores for children as young as 2!) or let someone do your grocery shopping for you; there are many things we can let go of and use that extra time for our families and more importantly ourselves!!!
Learn to let go!!! Focus on the important things in life and everything else will fall into place! Take it from a type A mama!!😉💕
