5 Secrets to Looking Chic Everyday

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

At the risk of sounding vain, people ask me all the time, “How do you always looks so good?” Well my secret is.....I don’t. As a SAHM of two I don’t always have time to do full hair and makeup. That’s why I live by these French secrets:

FACE

As I mentioned, I don’t always have time for makeup. This is why they invented sunglasses (the bigger, the better). Check out top influencers. Notice they wear sunglasses....ALOT! It’s not because they’re cool, they just know how to hide sleepless nights and busy days under those dark Chanel’s.

Always apply at least a little foundation or bronzer and a swipe of blush followed by a bold lipstick. Even on your worst days a bright lip will brighten your face and give you the appearance of being put together.

HAIR

The dreaded hair washing day. It’s epic to say the least, so why waste your time doing it everyday? Wash your hair once or twice (depending on your hair type) and invest in a good dry shampoo. I’ve even used baby powder on my roots for those last days before a wash.

I find when I curl my hair that one time for the week I can actually go longer between washes. It looks great even when messy or pulled up in a ponytail. Just wrap in a loose bun with a scrunchi at night to keep some of the shape and gently finger brush in the morning.

If you don’t want to fool with curling, slick it back into an elegant pony and wrap your band with your hair. It’s très chic!!

BODY

The key to always looking polished? Invest in a good blazer or two and a classic pair of heels. That’s it! A blazer and heels goes with everything from shorts and jeans to skirts and dresses. It’s also a great way to change up the same old outfit. If you pay attention enough you’ll notice I wear alot of the same staples like tees and denim. I just make it look different with blazers and heels.

ACCESSORIES

All you need is an initial investment in a great handbag or clutch. This is where I’ll do the whole cost/benefit analysis: take the cost of the handbag and divide it by 365 days and then divide it by how many years you will use it. That’s literally how much you will use it. Changing handbags is highly overrated. Seriously though, this is one thing I will splurge on because I know I will use it for years before getting a new one.

Just look for a classic shape and color you know will be in style for the next few years. Hanging a Prada on your arm will give you a finished look no matter what you’re wearing.

Now that you have some gorgeous arm candy, you just need to accessorize the rest. Go bold. Find a great statement pair of earrings or necklace and rock it with whatever you wear.

If you are more of the simple elegant type get a great set of pearls or diamonds that you can wear forever and include in your will. I literally wear earrings no matter what I’m doing. I‘ve been known to wear my diamond earrings with workout gear.

GO CLASSIC

You don’t have to spend a fortune to look like a million bucks. Buy a few classic neutral pieces you can mix and match throughout the week. Obviously blacks, whites and grays are classics but don’t forget classic colors like soft pinks and blues. Neutral doesn’t mean drab. Look at European women. They don’t always wear trendy styles and bold colors. They take a more simple classic approach to everyday fashion. Besides, when everything goes together it makes it so much easier putting together an outfit in the morning!

I think you’ve got this chic thing down now! It’s not as complicated as you thought is it? In fact, it’s a little lazy and I don’t know about you but I love it!! It gives you more time to focus on your career, your family, or yourself!! Au revoir!!💕
