š š½šI love giving my family fresh veggies, but I am NOT a gardener! I have the brownest thumb. I once killed an aloe plant š³š. ā
Soooo....in the past weāve always done a community garden with our neighbors!! We help plant and water but thereās no expertise needed! Itās great to see us all come together to grow something so beautiful and delicious!!ā
By including the kids, they learn the process of where our food comes from. Did you know there are many kids that donāt know where French fries come from?!? I was floored when I found this out! Growing up in the country, we always had a garden, so it never occurred to me that there are kids that donāt get to experience that! Just because you donāt grow up in the country doesnāt mean you canāt grow some things for your family to eat, though! There are tons of little growing kits you can get and grow on your porch that doesnāt take much room. Even some simple hanging tomato plants or potted herbs provides that experience. Itās amazing what they can learn from a simple garden! The best part? They get to enjoy eating what they helped grow!!! Surprisingly, they are far more likely to try vegetables and actually LIKE them when theyāre part of the growing process! šš»
What veggies do your kids love? š š½šā
