Last night was so much fun getting to eat delicious food and drink champagne at The Lock Box at 21c Museum Hotel in Lexington and fellowship with other Kentucky Influencers. And, although we had so much fun, last night wasn’t really about that. It was about helping kids like Carlie and her family (pictured above) receive the WISH of her dreams and bring hope to her and her family.
Did you know that Wishes have proven to boost the emotional and physical health of these children? It’s not just a trip, a treehouse built, a room makeover, meeting a celebrity or being a pop star singer for a day (these are all wishes kids have asked for). It’s a glimpse of hope and a feeling of fulfillment in an otherwise defeating and stressful situation.
Carlie told us her amazing story and what Make-A-Wish meant to her. Her dream is to be a marine biologist one day so she wished to go to Hawaii and experience all the marine life there. Typically when they took a vacation her parents would work extra jobs to pay for their trip and then Carlie would end up needing medical care while they were away. The emotional and physical stress was just too much. Make-A-Wish made the trip of her dreams come true by providing everything they needed! All they had to do was GO!!! Her family didn’t have to worry about money or medical care. They were able to just go and be together as a family. The impact just one trip made on this family is absolutely incredible and this is what Make-A-Wish does every day. They create hope for kids with critical illnesses and their families!! You can read more about Carlie and other stories like hers here:
@makeawishohkyin has granted almost 2,000 wishes across Kentucky but there are almost 400 Kentucky kids waiting for their wish.
