Meditation

This is my ultimate meditation spot...sitting with a cup of coffee overlooking the vast ocean. All is quiet in the morning and all I can hear are the waves crashing into the shore, the seagulls crying and my own breathing. Wouldn’t it be perfect to do this EVERY morning?! Well unfortunately we don’t have that luxury. Right? I try to wake up in the morning before the kids and do some simple meditation by doing some ujjayi breaths just sitting criss-cross applesauce (as my daughter calls it). Let’s face it, even that doesn’t happen most days. Somehow one of the kids wake up super early and I miss that moment to myself.

So, I’ve learned how to squeeze in some meditation into my crazy days! I’ve even done it sitting in the pick up line at school.

I find that one minute when I’m not doing a hundred things at once and go to that perfect mediation spot (the beach) in my head. You can pick any place you feel at peace to go to. If I can I close my eyes but if you can‘t, just mentally shut out the rest of the world. Just keep concentrating on that peaceful spot. BE in that peaceful spot. I then focus on my breathing...deep breath in, deep breath out. Feeling your lungs completely fill and empty with air. If you have an Apple Watch it even has an app designed to help you with this. I then try to think of all that I’m thankful for: my husband, my daughters, my dogs, the warmth I have in my home, the feeling of being full and not hungry, anything I’m thankful for in that moment. That’s it!! It’s so simple but it’s amazing how much better you feel when you take just one minute to do this everyday. It gives us a moment to redirect our energy and to mentally step away from all the things that bog us down in the day. So if you haven’t tried meditation, try this simple meditation to get you started and tell me how it’s helped YOU in your day!! Happy meditating!!! 🧘‍♀️
