Alkaline for a Pretty Happy You


Today is the day! It has been 8 months since I had my baby and I’m ready to get back on the alkaline track!! What is ALKALINE? I think Kate Hudson explains it best in her book “Pretty Happy” but it is basically eating foods that your body processes as alkaline. Simple terms....it’s the best foods for your body to make you LOOK and FEEL GREAT!!!

A few years ago I found I was drinking 5-6 cups of coffee a day and still struggling with fatigue and felt BLAH! Can anyone relate?? I heard Kate Hudson had a new book out about how to get a healthy mind and body. I love her outlook on life and her healthy approach to it, so I hit up our local library to check it out.

I decided I might as well give it a try and started followins her guidelines on eating alkaline and soon I felt AMAZING!!! I cut my coffee intake down to two cups a day (I still loved having my coffee but not for the energy). I felt energized and renewed. My body AND my mind felt great! I didn‘t start this to lose weight, although it can help you shed some extra pounds and build muscle when you’re working out. I just wanted to feel rejuvenated. Eating alkaline foods helped me to get that rejuvenation I was seeking! I had never felt better (mind, body and soul). Even my daughter noticed a difference and enjoyed eating alkaline with me. She said, “I want to eat healthy like you, Mom.”

So, why did I quit my alkaline lifestyle? A few years later I found out I was pregnant with our second and was super sick. All I could stomach were bagels with cream cheese. Gross I know! I would never have eaten either of those things on a daily basis before. It was just the beginning of getting into bad habits and they stuck.

You know how you get to that breaking point and you say, “Enough is enough!! I’m changing things TODAY!“? I’m there, guys!! Yes I do eat healthier than most and get my move goal in most days but I want to feel AMAZING again; not just mediocre. So....I’ve decided to share this journey with you guys. I’ll post my favorite recipes and exercises along the way. Anyone else with me?!?😄 Let’s get back to being Pretty Happy!!!! ☀️ If not for ourselves, then for our kids! They deserve a healthy mama!!!💚
